    Shawn kicks off a series of tour dates in the UK and Ireland with Mary Chapin Carpenter in a performance at the Sage Gateshead tonight, followed by shows in Dublin, Derby, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, and Cambridge. These special shows feature the acclaimed songwriters (and longtime friends) performing as an intimate duo and will include material spanning their vast catalogs as well as some of their favorite songs. Shawn, my partner Melissa has no idea yet but I'm bringing her to Chicago to see you Thursday night. It's been a difficult year as Melissa has undergone treatment for ovarian cancer. During hours of chemotherapy she has listened to your music and read your book. She's also introduced your music to several medical staff. Finished last treatment last week. Can't think of a better way to celebrate her recovery than seeing you in Chicago! Just know that Thursday night two very excited and huge fans are going to be there. Thanks
